YOU CAN'T WIN ME, I CAN'T BE BEAT

As video-games work their way into the collective psyche, they're increasingly referenced in pop music. Characterized as deeply addictive and weirdly spiritual, the ragtag discography of video-game odes ranges from The Who's megafamous Pinball Wizard, to Lana del Rey's dreary Video Games, to wherever the heck DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist found this obscure nugget of Atari-addled country music, Hooked on Atari.

But nothing hits all the nostalgic notes of the now-bygone era of the quarter-hungry video-game arcade like Lemon Demon's Cabinet Man, a synth-driven ballad about a man who seems to have been biomechanically integrated into one such cabinet machine... with sinister results.

Thank God for business, they let me take the floor
I stood so proudly, like I was going to war
Players soon appeared and I quickly was revered
This must be what love would have felt like
Such dedication, they came from miles away
With eyes so piercing, they’d wait their turn to play
In perfect patient lines because I was in their minds
I could do whatever I felt like

GISMOS_07 - WOWAHOLICS

This week we invited a good friend of ours to the show to share some personal historical struggles with World of Warcraft. Tyler Goesen. Jordan takes a break from flipping burgers and re-joins the Gismo crew. Overwatch beta is back and the Goose is all over it. Jordan gets real personal and Tristan attempts to hold it all together and not choke on his coffee.

Were working the new 'format' into the show this time with as few hiccups as possible. Listen, enjoy, leave comments and don't be shy, it wont get you very far.

Games covered this week:

Overwatch, Helldivers, Witcher 3, The Witness, Year Walk, WoW,

SHOVE THIS UP YOUR EAR STOCKINGS!

Im sorry guys but this is so amazing that keeping it to myself would be a crime. WHY has this never happened before? Pump this shit loud and bask in the Christmas synthwave glory! Can't think of much else to say about it, as withanything of quality it speaks for itself. This track is great but the whole album is wonderful. MERRY CHRISTMAS Gismoers we've recorded several more podcasts which we will edit and post in the coming week. Until then high fives and enjoy. Track 3 in particular is great.

CARPENTER LIVES

I know, i know, were a little late to the Carpenter game here. But who dies anymore really!? If you happened to be a major player in the entertainment business there is a good chance your soul is indelibly immortalized within the very fabric of the internet. Since he passed away i've been learning all sorts of things about the Master of Horror. For some reason i thought the actor Jennifer Carpenter was his daughter, to my dismay this is not the case. Shes still hot though and her performance in Quarantine was exceptional. She can scream a block down though, that's certain!

Reading through his filmography its difficult not to assume that this man was a babysitter. I know he was for me when i was a brat. No he didn't come to my house and he certainly did not tuck me into bed, the opposite really. He kept me very awake at night. So it seems he was the worst babysitter of all time, but his films left me dreaming. Which is the greatest gift of all.

Also he was a badass music producer. He created many of the film scores of the projects he Directed and Wrote. This i had just discovered today and it deserves a listening to. Its a lost mix of scores he never released. I don't typically do this but "Thanks internet. Today you have been good to me."

Please enjoy
